Club Material |
1. Carbon material: Mainly used to make carbon shafts. |
Generally, ceramic components
are added to graphite, or carbon and glass fiber are added to make it lighter
and stronger; |
2. Titanium alloy: generally used to make DRIVER club heads. |
The density of titanium is
quite small, about 60% of iron. But it has the characteristics of high
strength, easy high-temperature heat treatment, weldability, and forging.
Titanium alloy refers to pure titanium with other metals added to improve its
properties. |
6--4 titanium: 6% aluminum and
4% vanadium are added to pure titanium----mostly used for casting club heads |
β titanium (usually)---15%
vanadium, 3% chromium, 3% aluminum, and 3% nickel are added to pure titanium,
mostly used for forging club heads; |
SP700 has similar performance
to the above-mentioned 15-3-3-3β titanium, and is also a high-quality β
titanium. |
3. Tungsten: The density of tungsten is quite large, about 4.5 times that of titanium, and is mostly used for club head weights. (Tungsten 19.5) |
4. Mild steel: Soft iron. When casting irons, add 2~4% carbon to stainless steel to make it very hard; |
When forging, add 0.1~0.3%
carbon to soften it; |
5. Stainless steel: Stainless steel |
----SUS630 (added with 17% chromium and 4% nickel) --- mostly used for casting, widely used for irons and woods. |
----SUS304 (added with 18%
chromium and 8% nickel), it is softer than SUS630. |
6. Other materials: |
Beryllium copper: (copper +
1%~~2.5% beryllium), about 6-7% heavier than stainless steel ---- mostly used
to make wedges. |
Aluminum alloy: (aluminum +
4%-6% lead and 2%-3% magnesium), lighter, stronger and easier to process,
also used to make driver heads. |
7. Putter materials: stainless steel, brass, bronze, copper, polymer, polyurethane, aluminum, stainless steel. |
